A municipality that breathes nature in all its cardinal points.
Located at the eastern end of the province of Lugo, between A Fonsagrada and neighboring Asturias, with an area of 72.26 kilometers and a population of 215 inhabitants, distributed in six parishes: Barcela, Marentes, Ouviaño, Rio do Porto, San Pedro de Ernes, and Negueira.
Since 1928, this beautiful mountainous land has been named in honor of José Antonio Muñiz Alvarez.
A place that treasures an almost virginal landscape heritage, where flora and fauna transmit serenity. Possessors of a valuable architectural heritage, culture and living traditions. Heritage
Our architectural heritage is reflected in churches such as San Salvador from the late fifteenth century or early sixteenth century, the rural temple of Santiago de Ouviaño, several unique chapels or civil architecture put in value in the Boadil bridge of the twentieth century. The houses with thick stone walls and slate hipped roofs and our hórreos are typical constructions of our environment. Also the landscape heritage that surrounds us is full of natural charm, where flora and fauna coexist in freedom.
